Qubad Talabani: PUK Will Honour the People’s Trust and Strengthen Kurdistan’s Position in Iraq

Qubad Talabani, member of the Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) affirmed that the success of the electoral process represents a triumph for the will of the people. He noted that the PUK would build on this public trust to deliver on its electoral pledges and programmes.

Qubad Talabani stated, “The success of the Iraqi parliamentary elections is a success for all the people of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. On this occasion, I extend my congratulations to all Iraqis, and in particular to the citizens of Kurdistan.”

He continued, “I express my deep appreciation for the strong participation of the people of Kurdistan in the elections. I especially thank and congratulate all the voters of the PUK, whose votes have further strengthened the PUK’s standing and influence in both Kurdistan and Iraq. We assure the PUK’s supporters and the people of Kurdistan that the party will honour this immense trust and will devote all its efforts to fulfilling the commitments it made to the public.”

Qubad Talabani emphasised that “the PUK will utilise this confidence placed in it by the people of Kurdistan to reinforce the Kurdish position in Iraq, resolve the outstanding issues between the Region and Baghdad, and continue to defend all the constitutional rights of the people of Kurdistan.”
