The first course for learning Chinese at Sulaymaniyah University
The China Research Centre at Sulaymaniyah University has recently introduced the first Chinese language course in Sulaymaniyah, marking a significant milestone for the city.
Assistant Professor Dr. Sarwar Abdullah, the director of the China Research Centre at Sulaymaniyah University, announced the opening of the first advanced Chinese language course for students, employees, and business owners at Sulaymaniyah University's congress halls.
"China is a major player in trade and international relations," Asst. Prof. Abdullah stated that as many Kurdish people travel to China for business, it is crucial to learn the language and avoid using an interpreter while negotiating with Chinese companies and that proficiency in the language is also beneficial for academic and business talks.
He explained: "Two Chinese teachers will instruct the course in the morning and the evening. There are also businesspeople, employees, and students involved. The course will run for two months, with two very experienced Chinese teachers teaching in-person and two more teaching online."
"Because China is the second-largest economy in the world and has a rich cultural heritage, learning the language is becoming increasingly popular, which makes this course quite significant," he added.
