On Sunday, June 30, 2024, Qubad Talabani, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, embarked on a visit to the town of Chamchamal, a province of  Sulaymaniyah, where he inspected and opened various projects and engaged in multiple meetings with officials to enhance service provision.

DPM Talabani officially opened the 132/11KV Charmw Power Plant in Chamchamal, in the presence of the Minister of Electricity, Minister of Planning, and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources.

The project has been executed with an expenditure above 1.6 billion Iraqi dinars and will effectively address the issue of electricity overload in the area.

Subsequently, the Deputy Prime Minister inaugurated Digital Passport Office No. 5 of Sulaymaniyah - Chamchamal. This office aims to complete each citizen's passport application within a maximum of two hours, ensuring that they promptly receive their passport.

DPM Talabani met with the mayor and administrative officials of Chamchamal in the presence of Dr. Dara Rashid, Minister of Planning, and Major General Chato Salih, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior.

The participants engaged in a conversation regarding the issues and requirements related to the services for the inhabitants of Chamchamal.

The Deputy Prime Minister urged the administrative officials of Chamchamal to streamline the administrative procedures in order to effectively carry out and finalise the people's transactions while also ensuring that citizens are provided with optimal facilities.

He told them: "You are not rulers for the people, but you are their servants. Therefore, you must constantly meet the demands of the people to prevent them from seeing any hindrances to the implementation of their demands imposed by the administrative authorities."

He emphasised: "Our objective is to provide service to the citizens, and hence, any required modifications in administrative positions will be implemented."

DPM Talabani emphasised the need for administrative officials to streamline processes and implement effective steps to attract investors to Chamchamal, thereby fostering local growth and generating employment prospects for the youth.

He urged the officials of Chamchamal to receive the criticism of citizens with open hearts and refrain from filing lawsuits against anyone in response to their criticism, complaints, and rage.

"The law should be used to enforce and facilitate the affairs of citizens, rather than exacerbating issues for an enraged and discontented citizen," he said.

DPM Talabani, accompanied by the Minister of Planning, visited Chamchamal's Anfal Monument.  In remembrance of all the martyrs of Anfal, they placed a wreath of flowers at the monument.

Afterwards, the Deputy Prime Minister inaugurated the museum dedicated to the Peshmerga martyrs who fought against the Islamic State (ISIS). The museum serves to commemorate the sacrifices made by the Peshmerga forces and preserve the memory of the fallen heroes who fought against ISIS.

DPM Talabani emphasised the significance of inaugurating this museum and stated: "This museum serves as a modest tribute to showcase and safeguard the bravery of the Peshmerga martyrs, as their immense sacrifice and resilience in combating terrorism deserve to be shared with the world through films, literature, and artwork by all future generations."

DPM Talabani visits Goptapa-Chamchamal water project

DPM Talabani inspected the Goptapa-Chamchamal water project in the company of Kurdistan Region's Planning Minister, Dara Rashid. The project, with a budget of $78 million, is expected to be finished within a timeframe of 730 days.

"The residents of Chamchamal have endured water-related issues for an extended period and have been eagerly anticipating the execution and finalisation of this project for a considerable duration," stated DPM Talabani during his visit.

"The work on the project must continue without interruption," he said, urging the implementing company to ensure timely completion of the project, as it is the primary demand and entitlement of the citizens of Chamchamal.
