Qubad Talabani, Head of the Secretariat Bureau of President Mam Jalal, held a meeting with members of the PUK headquarters in Chamchamal on Sunday, June 30, 2024. Sarkawt Hassan was also present during the visit.
After listening to the opinions of the members of the headquarters' council about the PUK's situation in Chamchamal, he explained the policy and the current situation of the PUK at the level of Kurdistan, Iraq and the region explained to the participants of the meeting.
The Head of the Secretariat Bureau of President Mam Jalal referred to this phase as the restarting stage of the PUK. He stated that during this stage, under the leadership of President Bafel Jalal Talabani, the PUK will progressively strengthen and gain greater trust from the Kurdish people.
He clarified: "Before, the PUK faced criticism for its lack of clarity and transparency resulting from internal conflicts and issues. However, presently, the majority of society is well-informed about the PUK's objectives and policies, which signifies a commendable accomplishment and advancement for the party. We must continue to take more steps towards transparency day by day.
Qubad Talabani stated that the PUK is currently more aware than ever, with the leadership, members, and all sections of the party actively collaborating towards a common goal.
"The manifestation of this unity within the PUK will be evident in the outcomes of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections," he stated.
In a different segment of his speech, he emphasised the significance of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections for the PUK. He stated that while the PUK, under the leadership of President Bafel, has previously restored the balance of power in the Region, the importance of this election lies in the PUK's need to secure a major victory.
"That would enable the PUK to have a significant presence in all institutions and facilitate the realisation of comprehensive reform," he added.
In this context, Qubad Talabani said: "the Kurdish people believe that the PUK is the only party that can and has the strength to carry out genuine reforms. Therefore, the members of the headquarters and cadres of the PUK in Chamchamal must reach out to the people and strengthen the trust of the people in the PUK, because the PUK needs the support and strong trust of the Kurdish people to carry out reforms."
