PUK President Meets British CG to Discuss Iraqi Elections and Kurdish Unity

President Bafel meets CG Bizley in Dabashan.

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), received Andrew Bizley, the British Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, in Debashan.

During their meeting, they discussed the outcome of the Iraqi parliamentary elections and underlined the importance of continued coordination among the various political parties to safeguard the country’s security and stability.

President Bafel emphasised the need for Kurdish unity and a common stance at this critical stage, stating: “Our power, and the protection of our rights, rely on harmony and consensus among ourselves in Baghdad.”

Addressing the issues between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad, the PUK President said: “We are devoting all our efforts to resolving these matters in accordance with the Constitution, so that citizens do not continue to suffer as a result of these disputes, and to forming a service-oriented government in Iraq that delivers for everyone without discrimination.”
