IHEC Reports Complaints and Preliminary Results of Parliamentary Elections

The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced on Thursday the total number of complaints submitted during the parliamentary elections for the sixth term of the Iraqi parliament.

Jumana al-Ghalai, the IHEC spokesperson, told PUKMEDIA that 101 complaints were received over the two days of voting, with 44 lodged on the special voting day and 57 on the general voting day. All complaints are currently under review by the Commission.

The IHEC also released preliminary election results, showing strong performance by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) across several governorates.

According to the preliminary results monitored by PUKMEDIA:

In Erbil Governorate, the PUK, running on list number 222, received 97,301 votes.

In Sulaymaniyah Governorate, the PUK secured 240,899 votes.

In Kirkuk Governorate, the party led the electoral lists with 178,629 votes.

In Nineveh Governorate, the PUK participated in the Nineveh People’s Union Coalition under list number 281 with 31 candidates, gaining 56,346 votes.

In Diyala Governorate, the PUK ran an independent list (number 222) and received 29,044 votes.

In Saladin Governorate, the PUK contested through the National Masses Coalition, which obtained 67,402 votes. The PUK candidate on this list, Dr. Karim Shakur, secured 14,843 votes.

In Baghdad, PUK candidate Dr. Ayat Adham Hussein Ali won a parliamentary seat as part of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, receiving 4,702 votes.

These results demonstrate the PUK’s broad presence and participation across multiple Iraqi governorates and electoral alliances.
