Dutch Military Advisor offers condolences to the family of Commander Akam Omar

Following the death of Commander Akam Omar, Military Advisor of the Netherlands, Colonel Hans sent a statement of sympathy.

In his statement, Col. Hans extended his condolences to the family of Commander Akam Omer and his fellow Peshmergas in the 70th Forces.

On Monday, December 12, Akam Omar, the commander of the Kurdistan Commando Forces (KCF), passed away at a hospital in Germany.

In the Zinana sub-district of the Garmian region on October 19, a commando force was conducting a security operation to track down remaining ISIS terrorists when their vehicle drove over a roadside bomb.

Lieutenant Zuher Fayaq, an officer, was killed in the blast, while Akam Omar, the KCF commander, along with a number of other Peshmergas, were injured.

Omar was taken to Germany for medical care, where he passed away 54 days after the incident.
