The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) List No. 129 has highlighted a dedicated focus on the education and higher education sector in the main programme for the sixth session of the Kurdistan Parliament. The PUK emphasise the need for further improvement in quality, curriculum, teaching methods, and modern facilities for students.
PUK: We Will Modernise Education
Dr. Dilshad Mustafa, candidate number 16 on List 129 of the PUK for the Kurdistan parliamentary elections in the Sulaymaniyah constituency, stated to PUKMEDIA: "The PUK aims to transform the education system to align with modern times and technological advancements. We seek a more modern education system in Kurdistan that suits students' needs and ensures that education does not become a source of stress for them."
"We have several specific projects for university students, the most significant of which focuses on parallel study. This will allow them to receive a decent allowance to cover their tuition fees and provide enough for their living expenses, eliminating the need for outside work," he added.
PUK: We Will Reform The Education System
Trifa Nadir, candidate number 57 on List 129 of the PUK for the Kurdistan parliamentary elections in the Erbil constituency, told PUKMEDIA: "Any sector that has not been addressed in parliament has failed. Our goal is to bring the education sector to parliament and to review and reform it to align with the changes in current life in Kurdistan."
She further said: "We need to reform the curriculum to empower students to manage their own lessons and place greater emphasis on the Kurdish language. A revolution in the education system is essential, and this is a key objective for the PUK."
PUK: We Will Enhance Education Through Legislation
Nazhad Abdullah, candidate number 40 on List 129 of the PUK for the Kurdistan parliamentary elections in the Sulaymaniyah constituency, told PUKMEDIA: "The PUK has prioritised this sector by nominating individuals with expertise in education. The PUK takes the roles of teachers and students seriously and aims to work through parliament to support and enhance education."
He further said: "Through the Kurdistan Parliament and legislation, we will strive to initiate a new education revolution from kindergarten through all levels of education and higher education."
Education and Higher Education Sector

5. Establishing a broad bridge between the universities in the Kurdistan Region and the institutions in Iraq as well as worldwide.
6. Eliminating the difference in quality and curriculum of public and private schools.
7. Enhancing the cognitive and scientific skills of teachers by introducing new courses, delivering comprehensive information, employing information technology, offering ongoing annual training, and conducting innovative research.
