Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), held separate meetings with the French and Dutch ambassadors to Iraq, discussing regional developments, strengthening diplomatic and trade ties, and advancing the formation of a national service government based on partnership and unity.

PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani received Patrick Durrell, the French Ambassador to Iraq.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the overall situation in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the wider region, stressing the importance of continued cooperation and mutual understanding to address ongoing challenges.

Regarding the political developments following the Iraqi parliamentary elections, President Bafel stated that the PUK’s efforts are focused on the formation of a national service government grounded in partnership and unity.

PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani received Janet Alberta, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Iraq.

Their meeting covered developments both locally and regionally, and highlighted the importance of maintaining strong relations between the respective parties in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

They also stressed the need to expand trade ties between the two sides. President Bafel affirmed his willingness to facilitate Dutch investors and entrepreneurs in taking on a more active role in strengthening the economic foundations of the Kurdistan Region.

Another point of discussion was the creation of a more supportive environment for civil society organisations, with President Bafel reaffirming the PUK’s commitment to backing such organisations.
