The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) is striving to include the rights and financial entitlements of the Kurdish people in the 2023 Iraqi budget bill.

According to a member of the Iraqi parliament, "The PUK's projects for the budget bill are to serve the people of the Kurdistan Region and the Iraqi people."

The PUK's goal is to serve
Dr. Narmin Ma'ruf, a PUK faction MP and member of the Finance Committee in the Iraqi parliament, told PUKMEDIA that the PUK "has numerous projects that are in the interest of the people of the Kurdistan Region and insists on including them in the 2023 budget bill."

She continued: "The PUK has put the welfare of the general public before its interests, and it will do all necessary things to get the rights and financial entitlements of the people of the Kurdistan Region incorporated in the budget draft."

Ma'ruf added: "The PUK has plans for the disputed territories." The creation of a joint brigade between the Peshmerga and the Iraqi army is one of these goals and projects, as is the transfer of the salaries of the employees and teachers in these areas to the Iraqi government's books.
The PUK wants unity
The PUK is striving to bring the Kurds together in Baghdad to advance the interests of the Kurdish people, despite its strong position in the capital and the Iraqi parties' acceptance of its unwavering commitment to serving the people.

"The PUK has always pushed to unite the Kurds in Baghdad and wants the Kurds to achieve their rights according to the constitution; of course, this can be done with unity, which is the aim of the PUK," Shirwan Mirza, a former member of the Finance Committee of the Iraqi Parliament, told PUKMEDIA.

"The PUK has won the acceptance of the Iraqi parties for its persistent presence in Baghdad, its consistent stances on issues facing the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, as well as its attempts to unite Kurds in Baghdad together to advance the rights of the Kurdish people," he said.

At the end of February, the Iraqi government is expected to submit the 2023 budget bill to the parliament for its first and second readings.

For the benefit of the people of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, the PUK seeks to unify the Kurdish voice in Baghdad and wants the Kurds to be granted their legal and constitutional rights as well as other benefits.
