President Bafel Talabani meets with Alina Romanowski

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), received Alina Romanowski, US Ambassador to Iraq, in Baghdad.

The meeting focused on the necessity of resolving the problems between Erbil and Baghdad while also discussing the political and economic situation in Iraq. "Our people are the main victims of the conflicts," President Bafel said regarding the PUK's efforts to put an end to the disputes between Erbil and Baghdad and start a new political era. "This unwanted situation must end as soon as possible, and the constitution must be the decisive point for this," he added.

President Bafel addressed the US Ambassador over the set of circumstances in the Kurdistan Region and the lives of the people, stating: "Our goal is to ensure a peaceful and stable life for our people, and we will make every effort for this cause. People's lives are above everything."

President Bafel said in reference to the elections taking place as scheduled, "We are not in favor of postponing the elections, but the electoral legislation should be amended, and the voter registration should be cleared."
