The Government of Canada has called on all parties involved in the recent violence in Aleppo to take urgent steps to de-escalate tensions and protect civilians.

In an official statement, Canada urged the Syrian transitional government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to uphold their obligations under international law, particularly with regard to the protection of civilians. The statement stressed the importance of immediate measures to reduce violence and prevent further deterioration of the security situation.

Canada also emphasised the need for dialogue between the parties, warning that continued hostilities risk further bloodshed and instability in the city.

The call comes amid renewed clashes in Aleppo, particularly affecting Kurdish neighbourhoods, raising growing international concern over civilian safety and humanitarian conditions.
