The German Foreign Office’s Special Envoy for the Near and Middle East expressed his concern over the situation in Aleppo during a phone call with Mazloum Abdi, Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), affirming that Germany continues its contacts with all concerned parties in order to stop the fighting and resume negotiations.
Abdi received a phone call from Tobias Tunkel, German Foreign Office’s Special Envoy for the Near and Middle East, during which he conveyed Germany’s concern about the escalating violence in the city of Aleppo.
Tunkel explained in a post on his account on the “X” platform that the call addressed recent field developments, stressing the need to implement the 10 March agreement as a key step toward reducing tensions and creating appropriate conditions for a political solution.
The German envoy confirmed that his country continues its contacts with all relevant parties with the aim of halting the fighting, resuming negotiations, and ensuring the protection of civilians amid the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the region.
