Germany’s Development Minister Reem Alabali-Radovan.
Germany’s Development Minister Reem Alabali-Radovan has expressed deep concern over the renewed violence in the Syrian city of Aleppo, warning against further escalation and calling for dialogue instead of conflict.
In a statement, she said that the images emerging from Aleppo are “unbearable” and evoke memories of some of the darkest chapters of the war in Syria. She urged all parties involved to refrain from intensifying political and military confrontations, stressing that continued violence would only deepen civilian suffering.
The German minister emphasised that dialogue is essential at this stage, arguing that lasting peace cannot be achieved through force. She noted that stability requires creating real prospects for people on the ground, including access to basic services and economic opportunities.
The German minister also highlighted Germany’s continued support for development and humanitarian efforts aimed at rebuilding Syria’s economy and infrastructure. She said long-term peace depends on investment in education, healthcare, effective governance and the rule of law.
