Disputes between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) have been urged to be resolved by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK). In an effort to find a resolution, both PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani and Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani have made numerous visits to Baghdad and held meetings.

The PUK desires a resolution to the issues
"The PUK has continuously worked to address the problems between Erbil and Baghdad, in order to prevent the citizens of the region from becoming victims of political conflicts," said Sabah Habib, a member of the PUK bloc in the Iraqi parliament, to PUKMEDIA.

"The frequent visits of the PUK President and deputy prime minister demonstrate the PUK's desire for and commitment to a radical resolution to the issues between Erbil and Baghdad," claimed Habib.
The time has come to find solutions to the issues
Disputes between Erbil and Baghdad are urged to be settled in accordance with the constitution and to put an end to these issues at last.

Hussain Mardan, a member of the Iraqi parliament, told PUKMEDIA that the conflict between Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region must end because it has dragged on for too long and disappointed the populace.

"KRG and the Iraqi government share similar interests and ambitions, thus the sooner they settle the difficulties, the better since they must eventually be resolved," Mardan continued.
In the end, it's the citizens that suffer

Citizens are suffering the most as a result of the ongoing conflict between Erbil and Baghdad, and it must be ended.

"In political struggles, there is no such thing as victory or defeat. While there are additional benefits, the residents would be the first to suffer," Ali Baydar, a political expert, stated to PUKMEDIA.

"All Iraqi communities voted for the Constitution, so if both governments want to work together, they can find a solution through it," Baydar added.

Qubad Talabani is currently in Baghdad for the same reason, and he has met with multiple high-ranking government and political figures over the course of the past two days. "The first and last option before both governments is a comprehensive and long-term agreement, and it is no longer in the interest of any side to delay the agreement," he said in a statement regarding the problems between Erbil and Baghdad.
