PUK Co-Leader discusses latest developments in Iraq, Kurdistan Region with Russian Ambassador to Iraq

PUK Co-Leader, Lahur Sheikh Jangi received Maxim Maximov, Russion Ambassador to Iraq on Thursday and discussed latest political and economic development in Iraq and Kurdistan Region, according to an official statement from Sheikh Jangi's official Facebook page. 

 

Below is the full text of the statement:

 

"Today in Slemani, I received Maxim Maximov,  Russian Ambassador to Iraq. In the meeting, we discussed the latest political and economic developments in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and the ways to expand the mutual relations. We reiterated on the need to intensify efforts to overcome the outstanding issues in the way of the federal budget, and expediting these efforts to pass the budget in the Iraqi parliament, securing the share of the Kurds in it to resolve the Kurdistan Region’s financial problems and provide salaries for the civil servants.

 

We drew attention to the draft law of the federal court in the federal Iraqi parliament and stressed on cooperation and understanding between all the factions to pave the way for passing the draft law in order to activate the federal court to resolve the outstanding issues through it. We also reiterated the need to expand our relations with Russia and called upon Russia to continue efforts to help Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in all areas, and to play a serious role to help solve the Kurdish issue in Syria."
