Iraq's Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) has disqualified 88 candidates from contesting the 2025 Iraqi parliamentary elections.

The IHEC's Board of Commissioners issued the decision following recommendations from the specialised investigation committee, in accordance with the 2018 Electoral Law.

According to the list of the disqualified candidates published by the IHEC, the disqualified candidates come from various governorates and political lists, including one Kurdish candidate from Kirkuk. Notably, no Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) candidates were among those disqualified, underscoring their compliance with eligibility criteria.

Iraq’s Council of Ministers, chaired by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani, approved 11 November 2025 as the date for the next parliamentary elections during its session on 9 April this year.
