The Ministry of Trade announced the successful completion of data updates for more than 36 million Iraqi citizens within the ration card system, as part of a nationwide effort to digitise and streamline service delivery.
Ministry spokesperson Mohammed Hanoun stated that the data was updated digitally via the Ministry’s official platform, under the supervision of the Planning and Follow-up Department. “According to the latest official statistics, over 36 million citizens have now updated their information. This step is integral to ensuring a fairer and more accurate distribution of services,” he said.
Hanoun also revealed that an electronic platform for agents will soon be launched across all regions of Iraq.
Currently, all procedures related to deletion, addition, unblocking, and transfers have been temporarily suspended. This pause forms part of a regulatory review aimed at verifying data accuracy and eliminating duplication or fraud. The Ministry anticipates that these services will resume once the central audit is finalised, with an official date to be announced by the Planning and Follow-up Department.
The spokesperson further noted that the data update campaign covered all governorates, including those in the Kurdistan Region, which demonstrated notable progress. He emphasised that the update ensures the integrity of the national database and supports equitable distribution of services and entitlements.
