The Meeting between Ministry of Peshmerga and a delegation from Coalition Forces
On Tuesday, a meeting took place between
the Ministry of Peshmerga and the military advisory team for the coalition
forces in the Kurdistan Region. The Minister of Peshmerga, who chaired the
meeting, confirmed the ongoing progress of the reform process within the
ministry.
During the meeting, Shoresh Ismail, the
peshmerga Minister, expressed that the reforms implemented in the Ministry of
Peshmerga are a significant and serious process. "Significant milestones
have been achieved and are currently ongoing with the assistance of our allies
in the international coalition. Our objective is to establish a robust and
cohesive national force," he added.
The Minister of Peshmerga expressed
concern regarding the obstacles encountered by several infantry brigades and
regiments within the Ministry of Peshmerga, where they have been deprived of
material assistance from the coalition due to security and technical issues.
Ismail emphasised the urgent need to address these problems promptly and
implement necessary changes with the joint effort and support of all parties
involved to ensure that the brave Peshmerga fighters can benefit from the
monthly aid provided.
Colonel McKenzie, the leader of the
International Coalition's Military Advisors Team, discussed the reform process
and the restructuring of the Ministry of Peshmerga's work programme. He said
that they would provide assistance and support for this crucial and essential
operation. "We hope the Peshmerga forces will transform into a modern and
advanced military force to safeguard stability in the Kurdistan Region and its
surrounding regions," he added.
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on
improving relations and coordination between the Ministry of Peshmerga and the
coalition's senior advisors. The discussion also focused on the actions and
strategies that were implemented, as well as the methods for future
collaboration between the parties.
