PUK President: Collaboration Must Continue to Fight Terrorism

Bafel Jalal Talabani President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met with Major General Joel B. Vowell, the Commander of the Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve, in Baghdad.
The meeting focused on the security situation and the terrorism threat in Iraq and the surrounding region. They emphasised the need to enhance coordination and collaboration among the forces of the Peshmerga, Iraq, and the coalition to effectively address security difficulties and uphold stability in the area.
President Bafel Jalal Talabani emphasised the significance and ongoing importance of coordination as a key element in preserving peace in the region. He stated: "It is imperative to maintain relations in accordance with the law and safeguard public interests." Additionally, he emphasised the need for collective cooperation in combating terrorism and its associated risks.
PUK President: We Denounce Any Disrespect to Iraqi Supreme Judicial Institution
Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the PUK, met with Judge Faiq Zidan, the President of Iraq's Supreme Judicial Council, in Baghdad.
During the meeting, President Bafel Jalal Talabani reiterated his and the PUK's support for the independence of the Iraqi judiciary. He expressed his appreciation for the position and role of Mr. Zidan, who has served at a national level with fairness, aiming to accomplish the utmost objectives and safeguard the Constitution.
"We strongly denounce any form of disrespect and infringement upon the sovereignty and independence of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Institution and its president," he said.
During the meeting, Judge Zidan conveyed his appreciation to President Bafel and the PUK. He characterised their support as a chance to safeguard the independence of the judiciary in Iraq, adhere to the relevant laws, and protect the legal and constitutional rights of the country. They also deliberated on the strategies for enhancing the scientific and legal expertise of judges and members of the prosecutor general in the Presidency of the Court of Appeal of Sulaymaniyah and Garmian.
During another part of the meeting, there was a particular emphasis on the importance of maintaining an ongoing national dialogue and finding a constitutional resolution for all matters. This approach ensures that the rights of all parties involved are safeguarded within the framework of the judicial system.
PUK President: Current Circumstances Necessitate All Parties' Collective Efforts
Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the PUK, meets with Qais al-Khazali, Secretary-General of the Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq Movement in Baghdad.
The meeting focused on the most recent political, economic, and security advancements. They also reaffirmed the importance of ongoing dialogue among the government parties within the State Administration Coalition to address challenges and provide services.
President Bafel highlighted the need for coordination and collaborative efforts among the parties during the meeting. He expressed that the current circumstances necessitate the collective efforts of everyone involved, and stressed the need of prioritising the future and well-being of the people. "We hope that everyone will act responsibly and their steps will serve the public interest," he added.
The meeting also addressed the resolution of disputes between Erbil and Baghdad, particularly the matter of salaries and entitlements of the Kurdistan Region. Both parties emphasised their dedication to upholding the agreements and safeguarding the rights of all parties, in accordance with the Constitution.
