Second Conference of Media Board Takes Place in Sulaymaniyah

The second conference of Media Board

The second conference on the Reorganization and Development of Media Policy and Preparation for the New Stage of the Media Board of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) is taking place in Sulaymaniyah. Approximately 350 people are attending the conference. The conference began with a solemn tribute to the martyrs and President Mam Jalal, and then President Bafel Jalal Talabani delivered his message.

President Bafel to PUK journalists: We are proud of you

PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani stated in a message to the Media Board's second conference: "You have all demonstrated dedication and selflessness as members of the PUK, courageously advocating for the PUK and the just cause of our people. You have also played a significant role in increasing awareness of the peace process and have actively supported journalistic and cultural movements. We commend every one of you and have full faith in your capabilities and expertise. You will undoubtedly derive advantages from the participation of specialists and academics in this conference as you jointly progress towards a new media era that fulfills the needs of the public."

"I am delighted that the Media Board's conference serves as a means to enhance media relations across all party organs, encompassing media representation from all bureaus and headquarters," he said. "Lastly, I want to emphasize that the concept of bread and freedom for journalists and writers is not merely a political catchphrase but a significant principle upheld by President Mam Jalal, which we are committed to safeguarding. We will provide you with unwavering support as you strive toward innovation and regeneration."  

Imad Ahmed: Together, we're going to create a new working mechanism

Following that, Imad Ahmed, the Supervisor of the Bureau of Media and Awareness, delivered a message, saying: "For this phase, our media discourse must adhere to the directives set forth by our leader, Mam Jalal. The purpose of this conference is to establish a fresh collaborative mechanism of work and address our weaknesses. In the past, PUK media has demonstrated authority and numerous accomplishments, serving as a hub for innovation, training employees, and fostering freedom of speech."

Nerwayi: Organizing a conference requires bravery

Meanwhile, Latif Nerwayi, the Head of the Media Board, delivered a comprehensive report on the Media Board and extended a warm greeting to the attendees.

It takes courage and support to organize a conference, and we gave ourselves that courage. This conference, which is being held at different levels across all organs and regions of the Kurdistan Region—including disputed areas—is not just for PUK journalists; it is a patriotic conference for the PUK media. 

The message from President Bafel and the conference attendees serves as significant support for us and will be pivotal to our success. Moreover, we will receive assistance from over 40 esteemed university professors and specialists in many media fields.
 

Five Committees Have been Appointed 

The second part of the Media Board conference commenced at the Media Bureau, where the five committees began their respective tasks.

A supervisory committee, comprising the chairman, decision-makers, and five members, has been created to supervise the committees.

The committees are expected to conclude their tasks within a 24-hour timeframe and present their recommendations to the supervisory committee.
