Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), has sent a message to the Media Board's second conference, stating that "we will provide you with unwavering support as you strive for innovation and regeneration."
The following is the full message:
Attendees at the Second Conference on Reorganization and Formulation of Media Policy and Preparation for the New Stage,
Members of the Media Board,
Participants of the Second Conference on Reorganization and Development of Media Policy and Preparation for the New Stage,
Comrades of the Media Board,
Dear journalists,
I would like to start by congratulating you on organizing the conference and wishing you continued success.
I sincerely express my gratitude for your dedicated efforts in succeeding the Kirkuk coalition in Kirkuk, the Quds of Kurdistan.
Undoubtedly, you played a significant and crucial role in conducting the election campaign, and we are proud of you.
Presently, the international media sector is undergoing continuous transformation and enhancement. The primary objective and responsibility of the media is to always seek renewal and innovation in order to effectively respond to evolving circumstances and meet the expectations of the public and professional challenges.
In light of our comprehension of the global media landscape, it is imperative that we adopt an updated perspective, utilize technological advancements, and uphold the principles of journalism and politics to formulate an improved media strategy that aligns with the evolving media landscape.
You have all demonstrated dedication and selflessness as members of the PUK, courageously advocating for the PUK and the just cause of our people. You have also played a significant role in increasing awareness of the peace process and have actively supported journalistic and cultural movements. We commend every one of you and have full faith in your capabilities and expertise. You will undoubtedly derive advantages from the participation of specialists and academics in this conference as you jointly progress towards a new media era that fulfills the needs of the public.
Our media, encompassing visual, literary, and auditory forms, necessitate a thorough examination and an intense transformation. While it is true that we possess a significant amount of pride in our history, it is imperative that we also direct our attention towards the future. To achieve this objective, it is important that we approach the media with a forward-thinking mentality, implement realistic measures to restructure our media landscape, and establish a fresh media policy that prioritizes the welfare of Kurdistan and national interests.
I am delighted that the Media Board's conference serves as a means to enhance media relations across all party organs, encompassing media representation from all bureaus and headquarters.
Lastly, I want to emphasize that the concept of bread and freedom for journalists and writers is not merely a political catchphrase but a significant principle upheld by President Mam Jalal, which we are committed to safeguarding. We will provide you with unwavering support as you strive toward innovation and regeneration.
