Qubad Talabani, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, issues a statement on the anniversary of the Yazidi genocide.

Qubad Talabani's complete statement is as follows:

On the ninth anniversary of the genocide of our Yazidi brothers and sisters by terrorists of the Islamic State (ISIS), we remember all the victims of this terrible crime.

The Yazidi community has faced heinous atrocities and oppression in the past, most recently at the hands of ISIS, but it is encouraging that this time they were not alone, as all Kurds, the international community, and humanity stood with them. 

The British government has joined the list of nations that have officially acknowledged the murder as genocide, making the ninth anniversary of the murder all the more significant. This is an important step towards achieving justice and safeguarding Yazidis in the future. I would like to express my gratitude to the British government and all countries that have taken this vital and significant action.
