The Office of the Iraqi Prime Minister affirmed on Sunday that Iraq’s recent progress in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) issued by Transparency International serves as an incentive to intensify reform efforts.

In a press release, the Prime Minister’s Media Office stated that the results of the CPI, published on 10 February 2026, show that Iraq has made significant and notable progress in its 2025 ranking among countries worldwide.

The statement said the improvement reflects the government’s firm commitment, along with the contribution of public institutions, to strengthening transparency, integrity and good governance within the public sector. It added that the progress signals a strong determination to reinforce accountability, enhance public trust in state institutions, and implement measures aimed at combating and reducing corruption.

The Office further noted that the continued improvement in international rankings is the result of comprehensive efforts led by the government, particularly its prioritisation of anti-corruption measures within its programme. It highlighted the government’s support for oversight bodies and ongoing reforms designed to raise standards of integrity across state institutions.

According to the statement, the government considers these results an incentive to intensify efforts in the coming years to preserve and build upon the gains achieved. It also commended the role of public institutions, each within its area of responsibility, in contributing to this progress.
