Iraqi Minister of Justice Dr Khalid Shwani met with Georgian Ambassador to Jordan Archil Dzuliashvili on Monday to discuss the final stages of signing a memorandum of understanding on the transfer of prisoners between Iraq and Georgia.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Justice and reviewed by PUKMEDIA, it was confirmed that Dr Shwani received Ambassador Dzuliashvili at the Ministry’s headquarters. The meeting focused on completing the procedures for signing the memorandum of understanding, which is based on the Riyadh Agreement and the Arab Convention on the Transfer of Prisoners.

Dr Shwani emphasised that Iraq remains open to friendly nations and is keen to strengthen joint cooperation through the signing of memoranda of understanding in the judicial and legal fields. He noted that such agreements contribute to enhancing bilateral relations and facilitating the exchange of expertise.

For his part, Ambassador Dzuliashvili expressed Georgia’s commitment to strengthening relations with Iraq across various sectors, in a manner that serves the mutual interests of both friendly countries.
