Iraqi Parliamentary Presidency Meets Bloc Heads Ahead of Key Session

The presidency of the Iraqi Parliament held a meeting on Sunday with the heads of parliamentary blocs to discuss the mechanisms of the parliament’s work in the coming period.

In a statement obtained by PUKMEDIA, the parliament's presidency said the meeting focused on a number of issues related to parliamentary procedures, including the importance of completing the formation of permanent parliamentary committees and activating their legislative and oversight roles.

The parliament is scheduled to hold its regular session on Monday, during which lawmakers are expected to vote on the formation of the permanent parliamentary committees.

According to a statement from Parliament’s Media Office, also obtained by PUKMEDIA, Monday’s session will include the swearing-in of a number of newly confirmed members of Parliament. The second item on the agenda will be the vote on the establishment of the permanent parliamentary committees.
