The U.S. military carried out a strike on another suspected drug-trafficking vessel in the eastern Pacific Ocean on Thursday, killing two people, according to U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM).

“On Feb. 5, at the direction of #SOUTHCOM Commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan, Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations,” SOUTHCOM wrote on X, adding that no US military personnel were harmed in the strike.

General Donovan assumed command of SOUTHCOM on Thursday and is now responsible for overseeing U.S. military operations and engagements across Latin America and the Caribbean.

At least 119 people have now been killed in strikes targeting suspected drug-trafficking boats as part of a campaign known as Operation Southern Spear, which the Trump administration says is aimed at curbing narcotics trafficking.

Thursday’s operation marked the second known strike this year. A similar strike in January killed two people, leaving one survivor.
