The Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council has announced new statistics detailing the implementation of the amended General Amnesty Law No. 27 of 2016 for the month of January.

In a statement received by PUKMEDIA, the Council said that 41,364 individuals were released from prisons and detention facilities under the General Amnesty Law during the reporting period.

According to the statement, the total number of people covered by the amnesty reached 166,283. This figure includes defendants subject to arrest warrants or judicial summonses, individuals released on bail, and those convicted in absentia.

The Council also provided figures on recovered public funds linked to cases covered by the amnesty. It reported that a total of 87,416,572,075 Iraqi dinars was recovered, alongside $34,387,058.44 in US currency.
