A senior delegation from Iraq’s Coordination Framework arrived in Erbil on Monday morning, 2 February 2026, to hold discussions on the formation of a new Iraqi government and the election of a president. The delegation is also due to visit Sulaymaniyah.

The delegation includes Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani, head of the Reconstruction and Development Bloc; Hadi al-Amiri, leader of the Fatah Alliance; and Mohsen al-Mandalawi, head of the Iraqi Foundation Alliance.

After completing its meetings in Erbil, the delegation is scheduled to travel to Sulaymaniyah later today to meet Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.

On Sunday, Coordination Framework Secretary-General Abbas Radhi said that a senior delegation would visit the Kurdistan Region to meet leaders in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah. He explained that the visit follows a decision taken at the Framework’s most recent meeting to resolve the issue of electing a president by bridging differences, in line with its emphasis on adhering to constitutional timelines.
