Supreme Judicial Council Urges Prompt Formation of Iraq’s New Government

On Thursday, the Supreme Judicial Council called for the rapid establishment of the legislative and executive branches in accordance with constitutional deadlines.

In a statement, the Council congratulated the political parties and alliances that secured seats in the Iraqi parliament, wishing them success in their forthcoming work.

The Council added: “We extend our best wishes to those who were not successful in this election for future contests. On this occasion, we urge the winning parties to engage in dialogue promptly and reach the necessary agreements to form the new legislative and executive branches within the constitutionally mandated timeframes.”
