Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid's meeting with the international observers.
Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid received on Monday, 10 November 2025, a delegation of international observers at Al-Salam Palace, who will be monitoring the Iraqi parliamentary elections, set for 11 November.
The delegation, led by Tamala Longaberger, comprised officials, specialists and representatives from the European Union Election Expert Mission, along with experts in African and Middle Eastern affairs, political and legal specialists, and representatives of international organisations dedicated to supporting electoral processes and strengthening democratic governance.
The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation and coordination between Iraqi institutions and their international counterparts engaged in election observation. Both sides reviewed ways to promote democratic practices, encourage civic participation, and ensure integrity and transparency throughout the electoral process.
President Rashid reaffirmed Iraq’s steadfast commitment to implementing all necessary measures to guarantee transparent and credible elections, while ensuring that international observers are able to perform their duties with full freedom and independence. He commended the role of Iraq’s international partners in supporting the nation’s democratic path and reinforcing public trust in the electoral process, describing it as a defining moment that reflects the will of the people.
The President emphasised that Iraq’s current political and security stability is the outcome of the unity and collective efforts of its people, forming a solid foundation for comprehensive development and reconstruction. He noted that this stability has improved economic and social conditions, bolstered productive and service sectors, attracted foreign investment, and enhanced Iraq’s regional and international standing. These achievements, he said, have opened broad prospects for cooperation with friendly countries and international organisations in development, governance and institutional reform.
Longaberger and the accompanying delegation expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and commended the President’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with international partners. They reaffirmed their dedication to upholding international standards in election observation and contributing to the success of this pivotal democratic milestone for Iraq.
