Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid received Tajikistan’s National Security Advisor, Yusuf Rahmon Ahmadzod, and his accompanying delegation at Baghdad Palace, in the presence of Iraq’s National Security Advisor, Qasim al-Araji.
President Rashid conveyed his greetings to Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to strengthening relations with Tajikistan and expanding cooperation in the economic, tourism, and cultural fields. He noted that his previous meeting with President Rahmon had marked an important step toward deepening friendship and understanding between the two nations.
Highlighting Iraq’s regional outlook, President Rashid emphasised that Iraq now enjoys stability and security after defeating ISIS, which once posed a grave threat to the entire region.
“We must continue to strengthen coordination and exchange expertise in the fields of security and intelligence,” he said, “to build a regional framework capable of confronting shared challenges and ensuring lasting stability.”
The meeting also addressed ongoing efforts to repatriate Tajik nationals from the al-Hol camp and facilitate their transfer to the authorities in Tajikistan. Both sides underscored the importance of continued cooperation with the international community to coordinate humanitarian and security measures aimed at alleviating the suffering of families still residing in the camp.
Advisor Ahmadzod conveyed the greetings of President Emomali Rahmon to President Rashid and extended an invitation for him to visit Tajikistan. He expressed his country’s readiness to enhance bilateral cooperation in the exchange of security information and joint coordination, commending Iraq’s pivotal role in promoting regional security and stability.
