The Iraqi capital witnessed the inauguration of the Arab-Kurdish Culture Centre, held under the patronage of Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, and attended by a distinguished gathering of intellectuals, writers and cultural figures representing Kurdish, Arab and other communities.

Housed in the historic residence of Abdul Majeed al-Shawi, the Centre stands as a symbol of cultural cohesion. It is designed to foster dialogue, safeguard a shared heritage, and strengthen the collective identity that unites the peoples of Iraq.

In a message delivered on his behalf, President Rashid emphasised the political and societal importance of such initiatives, stressing that “cultural centres are platforms for communication, dialogue and creativity.” He added: “This centre embodies our commitment to a vision of coexistence; it is a space where Arabs, Kurds and all other communities can come together to celebrate their heritage, exchange ideas and build common ground.”

The Arab-Kurdish Cultural Centre is intended to serve as a lasting institution for cultural engagement, reinforcing the values of unity, diversity and cooperation at a time when strengthening national cohesion remains a political and social imperative.
