PUK to Receive Makhmur Mayor Position

The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) will receive the post of the mayor of Makhmur, a town in Nineveh Governorate.

Following the decision by the provincial council to change the heads of administrative units, Nineveh Governor Abdul Qadir al-Dakhil sent a letter dismissing a number of administrative unit heads. The letter involves the removal of 14 heads of administrative units in the province, after which a letter will be issued asking for assigning replacements.

Rashad Galali, Deputy Head of the PUK's Qarachogh Centre, told PUKMEDIA: "The decision came after the Nineveh Provincial Council resolved to change the heads of administrative units."

"Another decision will be made to begin assigning replacements for the removed heads of administrative units, and the PUK will be appointed Makhmur Mayor in accordance with its election wins," he added.
