Senior Iraqi Delegation, PUK President Attend Iranian President's Funeral

Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani and other Iraqi officials in Tehran.

A senior Iraqi delegation headed by Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid accompanied by Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), arrived in Tehran on Saturday, May 25, 2024, to attend the funeral of late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his companions.

The delegation also includes a number of leaders of Iraqi political parties and a number of ministers and government officials.

On the evening of May 19, 2024, a helicopter crash resulted in the deaths of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and seven other officials.

PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani and a delegation of senior officials visited the Consulate of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sulaymaniyah on May 23, 2024, to offer their condolences.
