An important economic debate was held in Slemani on Saturday in the presence of Haval Abubakr, Governor of Slemani, and Jutiar Nuri, Head of Democratic Organizations Office of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).
The debate was held under the supervision of the Slemani Chamber of Commerce, Economists Syndicate, Accountants Syndicate, Polytechnic University's Research Center, and a group of economic experts and professionals.
Regarding the debate, the head of the PUK's Democratic Organizations Office, Jutiar Nuri, said: "This is the first time for us to hold such a debate where the government and organizations and experts participate...economic issues are very important globally, especially for Kurdistan and Iraq, because we need to know how to involve the people in the economic process in our region... because if there isn't an exchange of views as a team, no government can succeed economically."
For his part, the Governor of Slemani Haval Abubakr said: "Participation of all parties in setting a long-term and strategic plan for our country's economy brings us to an important point which is the main principle of statehood... At the same time, statehood cannot develop without a strong economy, a developed civil society, a strong economic experience, diplomatic position, economic background, and economic and financial resources."
