Iraq, US discuss scientific cooperation between universities of both countries

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Nabil Kadhim Abdel-Saheb, and the US Ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, discussed Monday, the scientific cooperation between the universities of the two countries.

The Ministry of Higher Education stated, in a statement received by PUKmedia, that "the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Nabil Kadhim Abdel-Saheb, received the US ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski and the accompanying delegation."

The statement added, "The two sides discussed areas of scientific and academic cooperation between Iraqi and American universities and cultural exchange within the Fulbright Foreign Student Program and the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program."

The Minister stressed that "the memorandums of understanding between the two countries provided a positive scientific climate for the development of expertise, skills, curricula, and joint specialized research," noting that "hundreds of Iraqi students studying at American universities and who graduated from them were distributed through the channels of scholarships, fellowships, study leave and private expense."

He explained, "The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is keen on international partnerships, keeping pace with scientific changes, adapting challenges and benefiting from advanced global experiences."

In turn, Alina Romanowski expressed her "thanks to the Iraqi academic institution's keenness on cultural exchange, developing capabilities and quoting indicators of development in international universities, especially American ones."

She pointed to "the importance of joint coordination in light of the agreement and memoranda of scientific and academic understanding between the two countries."
