Over 140 artifacts found in Diyala

Diyala's Archaeology Department announced on Tuesday finding 141 artifacts in Baquba and Miqdadiyah.
The Iraqi Rescue Excavation Mission in Diyala completed its work for the first season in the Tel al-Qata’a 10488- District 27 Al-Katun in Baquba District, which dates back to the Seleucid and Parthian eras.
The Director-General of the Department of Investigation and Excavation, Ali Shalgham, said in a statement on Tuesday, that the Iraqi mission found 91 archaeological pieces, including tractors, lamps, pots of different shapes and sizes, beads, jewelry, silver coins, and various dolls.
According to Shalgham, the mission worked for 60 days where it also found building units used for habitation during that era.
Shalgham pointed out that their work coincided with the completion of the rehabilitation works of the first phase of the archaeological site of Al-Zindan in the Muqdadiya district, where 50 various archaeological pieces were found including tractors, lamps, spears, jewelry, coins, and dolls from the Sassanid era and others from the Islamic eras.
