PUK Vice President Reaffirms Commitment to the Legacy of Martyr Aram

Rifaat Abdullah, Vice President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), issued a message on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Shaswar Jalal or Martyr Aram, affirming that his comrades will remain faithful to his path until all objectives are fulfilled. 

VP Abdullah's message read:

“On the anniversary of the martyrdom of Shaswar Jalal— the hope of resurgence after defeat, a leader, theorist, and a symbol of the struggle of the working class and intellectuals — we reaffirm our commitment to the path, thought, and struggle embodied by Martyr Aram and all the martyrs of Kurdistan.

Martyr Aram represents an exemplary model of the intellectual and revolutionary in our collective journey. His revolutionary legacy and ideas continue to guide the vanguard of our struggle even after his martyrdom.

In commemorating Martyr Aram and all the martyrs, true loyalty to their noble souls lies in realising their aspirations and achieving their goals.”

Today, 31 January 2026, marks the 48th anniversary of the martyrdom of the leader Shaswar Jalal, widely known as Aram—a visionary leader, intellectual, and progressive leftist politician in the fullest sense of the term. A pragmatic Kurdish thinker, Aram lived the pain and suffering of the Kurdish people and devoted his life to the defence of their legitimate rights and aspirations.
