Smoke Rises from US Embassy Building in Kuwait.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defence announced on Monday, 2 March 2026, that several United States warplanes had crashed, confirming that all crew members survived the incident.
The official spokesperson for the ministry said, “This morning, several US warplanes crashed,” adding that the relevant authorities immediately launched search and rescue operations. The crews were evacuated and transferred to hospital for medical assessment and treatment. Their condition was described as stable.
He noted that direct coordination was under way with US forces regarding the circumstances of the crash, with joint technical procedures being implemented. The competent authorities, he added, are continuing investigations to determine the cause of the incident and urged the public to rely solely on official sources for information.
The announcement came amid heightened regional tensions. Plumes of smoke were seen rising from the United States Embassy compound in Kuwait City following a new wave of Iranian strikes, according to an AFP correspondent. Air raid sirens were heard earlier in the capital, while Civil Defence authorities reported intercepting several drones targeting the country.
The United States Embassy in Kuwait has not reported being directly attacked, but issued a security alert advising individuals to avoid the vicinity of its premises.
Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti armed forces confirmed that several drones were intercepted at dawn, according to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
The Iranian attacks, launched in response to the recent US–Israeli strike, have reportedly resulted in five fatalities across Gulf states, including one in Kuwait.
