PUK Official Holds Talks with Chinese CG on Regional Stability and Cooperation

On Wednesday, 14 January 2026, Dr Yousif Goran, a member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Politburo and Head of the General Studies Centre of the PUK, received Liu Jun, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China to the Kurdistan Region.
According to a statement, the meeting focused on the latest political developments in the region, as well as broader regional situations and ongoing developments. Both sides stressed the importance of maintaining political and security stability across the Kurdistan Region.
During the discussions, Dr Goran outlined the PUK’s views on the situation in Syria, emphasising that stability in the country is essential to safeguarding the rights of the Kurdish people and all other communities, as well as protecting lives and property.
The meeting also highlighted the shared commitment to further developing relations between the People’s Republic of China, the Kurdistan Region and the PUK. Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening cooperation in political, economic and cultural fields, as well as enhancing cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two sides.
