The new year, 2026.
Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) has released a statement to mark the arrival of the New Year 2026, affirming its continued dedication to realising the aspirations of the people of Kurdistan, both within the region and across Iraq.
The statement reads:
“We extend our congratulations to the people of Kurdistan and Iraq on the advent of the New Year 2026. We hope the coming year brings greater stability and security throughout the region.
On this occasion, we reiterate our commitment to pursuing governance reforms and establishing an effective, service-oriented cabinet for both the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Federal Government, ensuring services are delivered across all areas of the Region and the country as a whole.
Our efforts will focus on strengthening Kurdish representation in Baghdad to secure our full constitutional rights, including the financial entitlements of the Kurdistan Region and the payment of its employees, thereby overcoming any obstacles or challenges.
As we enter the new year, we recognise our historic responsibility to safeguard and nurture the spirit of unity, for a better future for our people and our region.
Once again, we offer our warmest wishes to all for the New Year.”
