PUK President Marks Anniversary of Commander Akam Omar’s Martyrdom

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), has issued a statement on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Commander Akam Omar, leader of the Commando Forces, reaffirming the commitment to fulfil the aspirations he left behind.

The statement reads:

“We mark the third anniversary of the martyrdom of Commander Akam Omar, leader of the Commando Forces in Kurdistan, with deep respect, and his memory will forever remain alive in our hearts.

Commander Akam gave his life for the dignity of our people and, at a young age, carved a history filled with pride.

We pledge to stay true to his sacrifices and to faithfully realise all that he had set out to achieve.

May God have mercy on the soul of Mr Akam, his comrades, and all the martyrs of Kurdistan.”
