PUK President: Elections Should Result in Kurdistan Region’s Development

Bafel Jalal Talabani, the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met with the leader of the Wisdom Movement, Sayyed Ammar al-Hakim, in Baghdad.

During the meeting, President Bafel commended Al-Hakim for his efforts and cooperation in resolving the issue of employees in the Kurdistan Region. He stated that "Erbil and Baghdad should increase their cooperation and coordination in order to better serve the people and ensure the success of the governance process."

President Bafel emphasised the importance of holding free and fair elections in the Kurdistan Region as scheduled. He also stated that the elections must be held in a way that promotes Kurdistan Region development while strengthening democratic foundations.

Another topic of discussion was how to create a more conducive environment for continued discussions between political forces and parties in order to carry out the government's reform programme while maintaining national stability.
