Kurdistan Region-Baghdad Issues Discussed With PUK President's Participation

The State Administration Coalition convened a meeting in Baghdad on the evening of April 6, 2024, with the participation of Bafel Jalal Talabani, the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK). The coalition stated that they engaged in discussions aimed at resolving the shared concerns between the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Region in accordance with the constitution.
According to a statement by the State Administration Coalition, the meeting focused on the anticipated visit of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani and his delegation to the United States (U.S.), as well as the subjects and matters to be addressed during the visit. The leaders of the State Administration Coalition have voiced their endorsement of the visit.
The common issues with the Kurdistan Region and how they should be resolved in line with the constitution were also discussed at the meeting. They emphasised the importance of considering the interests of the Iraqi people, including all communities, and stressed the need to adhere to the provisions of the political agreement that established the new Iraqi government.
Moreover, the meeting, which was also attended by Kurdistan Region's President Nechirvan Barzani, addressed various political, security, and economic matters, as well as the Iraqi government's efforts to enhance the economic situation and prosperity of citizens across all regions of Iraq.
