Imad Ahmed: Our Neighbours Must Protect Our Sovereignty

Imad Ahmed, a member of the Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), attended the anniversary of the victory of Iran's Islamic Revolution on behalf of PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani at the Iranian Consulate in Sulaymaniyah.

In his speech at the ceremony, PUK Politburo member Imad Ahmed stated: "Our neighbouring countries must protect our territory and sovereignty, as we will not be part of the problem for our neighbours, but we will be part of the solution."

"The region is in trouble, and the PUK considers it its duty to protect our people and region from war and instability," he said.

He also stressed that the PUK will not forget the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in supporting the Kurdish people during the chemical attack on Halabja, the Kurdish people's mass outmigration, and the fight against the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran supported the new revolution of our people and Iraqi opposition forces against the Iraqi dictator and Saddam Hussein's Ba'ath regime," he concluded.
