President Bafel: We Aim to Ensure Political Success & National Stability

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met with Mark Stroh, the United States Consul General in the Kurdistan Region. 

Dr. Yousif Goran and Dr. Jwan Ihsan, members of the Political Bureau, as well as Dara Khaylani, Head of the Relations Board, attended the meeting and discussed recent political developments. The significance of political dialogue and consensus in resolving issues and finding a solution that ensures regional stability was discussed. 

Additionally, the political landscape in Iraq was discussed. President Bafel Jalal Talabani explained the PUK's stance, stating: "The goal of our efforts is to ensure the success of the political process and maintain the country's stability in the face of regional tensions." 

He added, "The issues surrounding the election of the speaker of the Iraqi parliament are being resolved, and there is a clear consensus that the legislature needs to become more effective." 

President Bafel emphasized the importance of holding fair elections for the Kurdistan Parliament. These elections should accurately reflect the desires of all political groups, strengthening the Region rather than causing division.
