Qasim Al-Araji, Iraq's National Security Advisor, visited Sulaymaniyah and met with Qubad Talabani, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, where he reiterated that neither the Sulaymaniyah nor the Arabat airports had any foreign military or civilian presence.

The Iraqi National Security Advisor announced on his account on the (X) platform that a committee formed at the order of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' Al-Sudani to investigate incidents at Sulaymaniyah and Arbat airports visited the locations.

In addition, Qasim Al-Araji said, "All federal and regional institutions are present at the two airports in a lawful manner, and the Federal Aviation Authority is in charge of supervision of both airports."

Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, met with Iraqi National Security Advisor Qassim Al-Araji in Sulaymaniyah and discussed ways to improve coordination between the security forces of the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad. Talabani highlighted the importance of comprehensive coordination among security forces, emphasizing that the federal government should take into account all Iraqi forces, including Peshmerga forces, and stressing that this approach aims to prevent any potential vulnerabilities that terrorist groups could exploit, thereby safeguarding the security and stability of both the Kurdistan Region and other regions within Iraq.

They also discussed the air strikes on the Kurdistan Region and other countries' violations of Iraq's and the Kurdistan Region's sovereignty. Qubad Talabani urged the federal government to prioritize this issue and engage actively at the international level to effectively address the ongoing violations that result in a significant number of deaths each year.

The visit of the Iraqi National Security Advisor occurred forty days after the attack on the Arbat Airfield by Turkish drones on September 18, 2023, which resulted in the martyrdom of three heroes of the Kurdistan Counter-Terrorism Group (CTG), Hiwa Qadir, Evan Adnan, and Raber Anwar.
