Kurdistan Socialist Democratic Party changes name, re-elects Muhammad Haji Mahmoud as Secretary-General

During its 7th congress held on Saturday, the Kurdistan Socialist Democratic Party changed its name to Kurdistan Social Democratic party and re-elected Muhammad Haji Mahmoud as the party's Secretary-General.

The party began its 7th congress on Saturday, which will last for two days, with the participation of about 1,000 members in Erbil, during which the party’s name was changed from the Kurdistan Socialist Democratic Party to the Kurdistan Social Democratic Party, electing Muhammad Haji Mahmoud as the party’s Secretary-General and changing the party's logo.

The Party also elected Abdullah Haji Mahmoud, brother of Muhammad Haji Mahmoud, as Deputy Secretary-General.

For his part, the congress's spokesman, Adel Salih, said in a statement to reporters, that the congress will reconsider its internal system and party programs.
