'Kirkuk Filmmakers Forum' kicks off

The Kirkuk Filmmakers Forum, organized by the Kirkuk Foundation for Culture and Arts in coordination with the Cultural House in Kirkuk and under the sponsorship of Al-Kitab University, kicked off in the city of Kirkuk on Saturday evening.

The forum is being held in the cinema hall of the Time Center Mall in Kirkuk.

During the first day of the forum, certificates of appreciation were distributed among the correspondents of the various media that contribute to covering the forum, including the PUKmedia reporter in Kirkuk.

Eight short films were also shown on the first day, in addition to a documentary film about Al-Kitab University and its role in advancing the educational process. 

Youssef Tayeb, director of the Cultural House in Kirkuk, told PUKmedia, that "it is a good opportunity for this forum to be held, to highlight and develop the young artistic capabilities, especially the participating directors who hope for a prosperous future, and to work to make cinema in the city of Kirkuk more professional," pointing out that the Cultural House plans to hold film festivals and wide artistic forums with the support of the relevant authorities, including the governorate administration and the Iraqi Ministry of Culture.

Artist Khalil Yaba Karim, who came from Erbil, told PUKmedia that he was very pleased to attend the Kirkuk Filmmakers Forum.
